Subaru is the automobile manufacturing division of prominent Japanese transportation conglomerate Subaru Corporation, which is formerly known as Fuji Heavy Industries. As an automobile manufacturing division, Subaru was founded by Kenji Kita and Chikuhei Nakajima on July 15, 1953. The Subaru name comes for Subaru as the Japanese translation for Pleiades star cluster M45, which is why the emblem for Subaru is so recognizable – the Pleiades is said to be the “Seven Sisters,” one of which is invisible. Six stars adorn the Subaru emblem.
Popular Models and Significant Body Styles
Not only is Subaru known for making long-lasting AWD cars and SUVs, throughout the vehicle manufacturer’s history, the vehicle selection has definitely been unique. Like most vehicle manufacturers, the primary body styles of a Subaru don’t vary much – coupe, compact, sedan, and hatchback.
- Coupe: Most coupes are on the smaller end of the “car-size” spectrum. They may appear sportier than full-size sedans and typically only offer a 2-door design.
- Compact: The compact car is made to be smaller than the sedan but larger than a coupe. Most compact models offer a 4-door design, whereas the sportier trim levels may reduce it down to a 2-door design.
- Sedan: Considered the “full-size” car body style, the sedan offers more comfortable seating. Sedans are larger than coupes or compacts but will always be smaller than an SUV, even though it may offer the same amount of seating that a smaller SUV would.
- Hatchback: Over recent years, the hatchback body style has evolved into what many refer to as a “5-door” car design. The early hatchback was more of a station wagon model, and now it is often just like the back hatch of an SUV.
With different body styles, models, years, and trim comes very different seat dimensions (at times). Whether you have a coupe, compact, sedan, minivan, SUV, hatchback, or truck, you need to take care of it.
The first thing that tends to get worn down in a car is the seats. ShearComfort has multiple types of Subaru car seat covers to choose from, all custom-fitted for the perfect fit every time. Neo-Supreme seat covers come in multiple colors, offering coverage that is great for everyday wear.

Trim Levels
Subaru likes to keep the trim level selection short and sweet – offering Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Touring throughout their model categories. Like the car, each of these trims is unique and indicative of a specific set of amenities and features. Timeless selections like Imitation Leather offer the exotic feel of real leather, but at a price, you can afford. Most Subaru owners know that it doesn’t matter what trim level you have, you just want to keep the vehicle in its best shape so you can pass it down in the future.
Base Trim and Premium
Subaru’s base trim level is the minimum amount you will pay to take a brand new Subaru off the lot. The base trim comes with standard safety features and other amenities, including Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Standard base features include tri-zone automatic climate control, USB charging ports, seatbelt reminders in all rows, steering responsive LED headlights, and more. All Subaru vehicles are compatible with the base trim level.
A small step above the base trim level is the premium base level. Premium offers all of the previous amenities plus even more exciting options like a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, push-button start, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel cover. The Premium trim vehicles include WRX, Crosstrek, Impreza, Ascent, Legacy, and Outback.
Sport and Limited
The Sport trim level is only available on the Crosstrek, Forester, Impreza, and Legacy. It offers a sportier style, as the name implies. Many of the exclusive styling properties deal with the inner workings of the vehicle on getting the Sport trim level.
The Limited trim level offers upscale amenities and technology for both driver and passengers. Some of the newer features added to the Limited trim level include reverse auto-braking and heated rear seats. Don’t forget that you can take advantage of these great amenities like performance leather interior, heated rear seats, and more. The Limited trim can be found on Impreza, Legacy, Outback, WRX, Crosstrek, Forester, and Ascent.
Touring
The Touring trim is one of the most sought-after trim levels when purchasing a new vehicle online. Owners who choose the Touring trim level gain access to a heated steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, and a 180-view front camera. The models with Touring trim include Outback, Ascent, and Forester.
