What is Ferrari planning with this new patent?
It looks like there is something in the works at Ferrari’s Special Projects lab and it appears to be an extraordinarily unusual hypercar. While much is still in question, if the Special Projects designers and mechanics have anything to do with the creation of this new Ferrari, it is going to be made for the elite and die-hard Ferrari fans with serious cash.
Just look at the F12 TRS and J50 Limited. If this new Ferrari concept is anything like those special projects, which it likely will be, there’s no doubt it will have mind blowing performance, specs, and features.
The recent European patent for the potential new Ferrari bears an undeniable resemblance to LaFerrari, don’t you think? Although, the image that has been released has certainly taken on a life of its own. There’s different bodywork on the side to promote extreme airflow from its front all the way to these gill-like vents just past the doors. What’s even more unusual about this patent is that we’re seeing it prior to us laying our eyes on the vehicle itself. The patent was filed back in August 2016 with the Union Intellectual Property Office by the supercar automaker. So why is it just surfacing now? Could this be Ferrari’s way of hyping up their new hypercar? In its 70 years, Ferrari has mastered the art of car design. The luxury car manufacturer continuously proves itself to be an industry leader with its progressive designs and development of supercars stacked with insane amounts of power and never-before- seen performance. Take the Ferrari 812 for instance. Dubbed the fastest and most powerful Ferrari ever produced, the Italian automaker isn’t just fluffing its feathers when they make a claim like this; the 812 Supercar is said to be equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V12 engine with a ridiculous amount of horsepower: 789 hp.
When we say that this car is going to be expensive, we mean it. Not only is Ferrari producing some of the fastest and most powerful cars in the world, they have also produced some of the most expensive. Take a look at the classic Ferrari 250 GTO which once sold at auction for $38 million.
While the patent filed by the automaker is pretty abstract, only time will only tell how much power there will be under the hood of the brand new Ferrari. But knowing Ferrari SP, it is likely to be a one-off creation. Can’t wait to see it!
