The Ford Mustang: the iconic, all American, pony car hits the half-century mark this year and what better way than to celebrate than by reviving one its greatest Mustang models. Yup, that’s right, Ford is giving us a taste of the sweet life with the return of the Ford Mustang Cobra.
The Returning of the King Cobra
Introduced in 1964, the Ford is known for being a powerhouse of muscle cars, always taking performance to the next level. As the Mustang Cobra Jet, the car has always been a fierce competitor on the track and the new 2018 model is expected to be nothing short of a spectacular dragster.
Now with the Ford Mustang turning the big 5-0, we’re yet again graced with the presence of the muscle machine: the new 2018 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet. Of course, Ford wouldn’t simply release a new Cobra without giving it a revamped, revitalized appearance, including an upgrade to its engine.
Sadly for those that want to show off the King of the Road — you’ll have to save it for the track. The new 2018 Cobra Jet is not going to be street legal. The Cobra Jet will be equipped with a 5.2 -liter Coyote engine that when pushed to the max will hit 150 MPH at a quarter mile spring that takes only about 8 seconds. No doubt that this striker of a Mustang isn’t street legal, you could do some serious damage. The dragster is designed for the National Mustang Racers Association and National Muscle Car Association classes and legal for the National Hot Rod Association drag races.
Ford s saying that this will be the fastest pony they’ve built yet. Nice way to celebrate its legacy, don’t you think?
All the ’50’ Ford Mustang Swag You Could Want
Additionally,to commemorate the 50th birthday of their beloved Mustang, the Cobra Jet will also feature tons of “50” swag in the limited edition car. While pricing has yet to be released, the Cobra is expected to roll out this Summer and will be available in two colors: Race Red and Oxford White
Which color would be your pick?
