Top 5 Concept SUVs

Luxury automakers such as Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes have recently ventured into the growing SUV market. These new ventures have prompted other high-end automotive manufacturers to join in and showcase their own SUV concepts, and some of the automakers even intend for their SUVs to make it to mass-market manufacturing. These are our top five luxury SUVs, some of which will be offered to the mass market:

#5 – Lamborghini Urus

When the Lamborghini Urus was first introduced at the Beijing Auto Show in 2012, few people imagined that it would ever make it to production. However, in 2013, Stephan Winklemann, CEO of Lamborghini, announced that the Urus would be on the market by 2018.

The first Lamborghini SUV will be powered by a 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 engine. Rumor has it that the Urus will be offered as a plug-in hybrid SUV. It will be manufactured with carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer, which will make the vehicle much lighter than other SUVs.

What could you expect to pay for this luxury SUV? It is estimated that the Urus will cost upwards of $150,000.

#4 – Aston Martin DBX

The DBX is Aston Martin’s first concept SUV. With a number of competitors entering the electric vehicle market, Aston Martin strategically decided to make their first SUV entirely electric. Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin, envisions a future in which the high-end GT market is not just stylish and luxurious, but simultaneously family-friendly and practical.

From the physical look of the DBX, the concept SUV offers a perfect combination of sport-luxury with the practicality of an SUV. Its two doors and four seats combined with its large profile wheels give the SUV a unique sporty look.

The DBX steering wheel looks as though it was manufactured in the future. It appears to have an LCD display in the middle of the wheel, accompanied by multiple controls that allow for sport shifting and switching between different driving modes, such as sport, standard, and comfort.

Another unique feature on the DBX is its digital cameras that replace the side mirrors.

#3 – Lincoln Navigator Concept Car

In an effort to compete with other luxury brands, Lincoln introduced their Navigator concept at the New York International Auto Show in March 2016.

This yacht-sized luxury SUV is equipped with some very unique features, including gull-wing doors, a set of stairs that serve as a luxurious entry into the vehicle, and a “custom wardrobe management system,” which is basically a mobile closet stocked with emergency essentials.

Lincoln Interio – Wired

The interior of the Lincoln concept SUV is larger than any of the current SUVs out there. It’s equipped with decadent leather trim and a Wi-Fi hotspot that connects all four interactive screens seamlessly. It also uses artificial intelligence to assist the driver in life-threatening situations.

All in all, this SUV is for business men and women who enjoy the luxuries of space and comfort.

#2 – Rolls Royce Cullinan

Rolls Royce is known to price their vehicles above luxury-market averages to ensure that their brand remains in the hands of an exclusive club. For this reason, it is not surprising that the Rolls Royce Cullinan is anticipated to be priced at a hefty $350,000 US.

The Cullinan will likely come with a V12 engine that will boast more than 500 horsepower. The spoiler, seen on some of the Cullinan concept models, is definitely a unique feature that is not usually seen on Rolls Royce vehicles.

Incidentally, the name “Cullinan” is derived from one of the most expensive and largest diamonds ever discovered. The Cullinan I, also called the Great Star of Africa, is estimated to be worth $400 million and is mounted into the Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross, part of the British coronation regalia.

#1 – Bentley Bentayga

Originally, the EXP 9 F was solely a concept car when this Bentley SUV was revealed to the public at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

However, three years later, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Bentley announced that they will be manufacturing a similar mass-market luxury SUV branded as the Bentley Bentayga.

Car and Driver

Original Bentley – Car and Driver

Bentley claims that the Bentayga is the fastest SUV in the world, reaching 60 mph in four seconds and hitting a top speed of 187 mph, making it as quick as a Porsche Cayman S. The embedded Bentley logo headlights offer a perfect combination of luxury and style. The interior can be arranged to seat four or five passengers, and the seats and panels are lined with the finest leather. This is definitely one of the classiest SUVs on the market.
